Birchwood is built on a shared love of good food, warm hospitality, and the everyday moments that bring people together. Owners Veronika and Federico work alongside their team to create a welcoming space where community naturally gathers.

Birchwood is powered by people who care deeply about good food, good coffee, and the moments that happen around them. Our owners work side-by-side with a dedicated team of bakers, baristas, and kitchen staff to create a space where neighbors connect, friendships grow, and the community naturally comes together.

From early-morning dough prep to your first sip of coffee, each part of the day reflects a shared commitment to quality, creativity, and genuine hospitality.

The people behind birchwood

BLENDING thoughtful pastry with a love of gathering, veronika and federico have created a place where good food and community naturally comes together.

Federico brings more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry. His passion for food and beverage began in Italy, where he got his start as a bartender before becoming a sommelier. He later moved to New York City, where he worked in and led service at some of the city’s most respected restaurants. In 2016, he and Veronika relocated to Massachusetts, where he directed service at L’Espalier and led the team at Bistro du Midi. At Birchwood, he focuses on hospitality, service, and creating the welcoming experience guests return for. After years of dreaming about building something of their own, Federico and Veronika opened Birchwood Bakery & Kitchen together.

Born in Burlington, Vermont and raised in Massachusetts, Veronika has been baking for nearly 20 years. She is especially passionate about cake design, creating custom cakes and desserts that help mark weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other meaningful moments. She spent more than a decade in New York City as a pastry chef and cake decorator, where her work was featured in publications including Martha Stewart Weddings, New York Weddings, Better Homes & Gardens, Sweet Paul, Food & Wine, and Town & Country. More recently, her work has been featured by WeddingBoston.net and Engaged New England. Together with her husband Federico, she co-founded Birchwood Bakery & Kitchen.
